Surprising, wonderful coming of age story

This is a fine, moving book masquerading as a strange punch line. While the title sounds like a joke, the book tells the true story of an alienated young American finding himself while a teenage exchange student living 200 miles north of the arctic circle in Norway. Written honestly and with great heart, we have the privilege of watching the small town Norwegians help the author grow up and find himself, love and friendship in the land of the midnight sun.
This book will appeal to many, but not to all. Certainly to those who have traveled far from home to live and make a life in another country. Possibly to young people struggling through their own growing pains who would like to hear inside the thoughts of someone who remembers what it was like to be one of them, and is willing to share the reality. Certainly to anyone who cares to travel inside the head of a perceptive person while they go through a transforming experience.
