About the Author
Donaldson Chair in Operations Management at the Curtis L. Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. He is also the Co-Director of the Juran Center for Leadership in Quality and has earned an appointment as a Distinguished Teaching Professor. He received the B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering with high distinction from the University of Minnesota, MSIE University of Minnesota and Ph.D. from Northwestern University. Prior to joining the University of Minnesota, he taught at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California, and was an analyst for the office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense. Professor Schroeder has received research grants from the Ford Foundation, American Production and Inventory Control Society, Exxon Education Foundation and the National Science Foundation. He is a recipient of the Morse Award for outstanding teaching at the University of Minnesota.

Clear, easy to understand writing

Good job on the compilation of this book authors. It was very helpful for my operations management course. Covers the areas of operations management, with lots of real world examples. There are problems at the end of each chapter with examples within that chapter. Makes you think about how to complete them. There are also various diagrams and visual aids to assist in the explanation of elements in the subject.

I got the kindle version of this book, and I think that at $146 it is a bit overpriced.

This book is simply the best book on catering, food service, the restaurant business, industrial cooking, and the entire back-end of the food-service industry.

I believe it to be a textbook, as it is written like one. No matter - there is almost limitless valuable [and invaluable] data stored in this almost-pocket-sized book.

No manager or pro chef should be without this book - even if you don't read it, you would still have a resource for those emergencies that arise.

Costing, food prep, equipment - it is all in there. I have not seen a more complete or better book on the vast array of segments of the food-service trade.

It's always great to know what you are aim for

I own a lot of cook books, trawl online for recipes and I bake almost every weekend. Many times recipes simply don't work. So far I have tried 5 recipes and had 5 hits. This is first for me.
The book is well laid out. A recipe with a picture on the adjacent page. It's always great to know what you are aim for. The recipes are simple, instructions are clear and the final product great.
My only tiny complaint would be that the book I received was small, and writing smaller. It's a struggle to read sometimes, especially when the print is coloured. Other than that it's absolutely brilliant !

Although this volume is tiny, it's packed with to the point tips and recipes. American readers will need to do conversation of temperature and amounts, but these efforts will be well worth it!!
I promptly baked the first recipe, a Victoria Sanswich, following the converted recipe exactly. My British friend said it was the best she'd ever had!
I also purchased the first Brit Baking Challenge book- but The 100 is far superior

I love this cookbook! It's a tiny gem! I've never been into baking, but after watching The Great British Bakeoff, I wanted to try my hand at some home baked goodies. After watching and admiring Mary Berry on that show, I found this cookbook. I can't speak to the entire contents of the book, but I can comment with a good deal of certainty with respect to at least one of his subjects since it involves the person that killed my sister and other innocent women. Mellor appears to have leaned heavily on other writings on the topic that are equally fictional, take liberties with the truth and are simply wrong. One would have expected a higher degree of veracity from a work purported to be non-fiction. If you find this type of genre entertaining, it may be fine; however, if you are interested in a fact-based work, you may be disappointed.

Ok. I just got this book on friday September 21st. I absolutely love it. The author did his home work. Over 60 serial killers are detailed in this book. The author gives detailed brief accounts of their lives,crimes,and so forth. It is amazing to learn how sick some of theese monsters are or were. Even some gruesome double murderers where included. This book is well written. I recomend it for any serial killer fan,true crime fan,or anybody intrested in this subject line.

Set in a time not so long ago and still with us

Good...definately good...reads fast and good...

Geez...what can I say about this book? Well...I could start by saying that is was an excellent novel. Being 16 years old and all, this book really explained to me how some of the old southerners thought. They still had pride in the "old south" and it fascinated me that the old judge wanted Confederate money to be made redeemable into US dollars. I just could believe it. It portrayed racist, economic, and political issues in a very believable way. It was, all in all, emotional and it really had every emotion contained within it. At times it was funny. At times is was serious. Sometimes it was happy. Sometimes it was sad. It really gets you going once you read the first 10 pages. I liked it very much and do recommend it to everyone -- regardless of age.
