Not for the small scale rancher.

This book has a lot of information. It is written very well, and there are a lot of very good illustrations. However, this is not for the small scale cattleman completely. I wish I had known that the illustrated guide to cattle compounds are more for the large scale cattle operation rather than the small scale. We are an extremely small operation. We neither have the room, money or the need for the facilities in the book. If I had 200+ head this would be helpful, but with our single digit herd we just don't have the need for such grand plans.

Livestock Handling

This is an awesome book. It makes me want to write a fan letter to Temple Grandin! I am a new shepherd, and knew nothing about how to handle livestock. This book told me what to do and how to do it, and it is exactly right. Everything she says works just as she says it will. It also contains other amazing information. Your never to old to open your mind and enjoy knowledge which will improve the well being of animals in your care and help you enjoy your work. Recommend reading for any one working with livestock. Common Sense is not So Common

This book might be one of the most understated books of its kind in the Marketplace. I teach at Carnegie Mellon University's, Heinz College and initially selected this book to be a brief part of my Masters Course. Over the past four years, I have spent more and more time on this book as at least 2-4 students a year tell me that they believed they got a job offer because of this book.

For any student looking to know how to use the tools of marketing and strategy, this is the book for you. For any student desiring to work for a large consulting firm, this is your book. It is concise and to the point.

I apologize to the author for initially underestimating the impact of his work, as Voltaire stated "Common sense is not so common".

Probably the book you will least want to read if you are hoping to becoming a lie detector over night!

Thus far, the definitive book on deception detection.

The lesson here is there is no Pinocchio nose to detecting lies. No magic wand or secret method.

It's a minefield and for any methodology to be of any real use in law enforcement or court testimony, a lot more study and development is necessary before we'll be anywhere near close to a achieving really useful tools.

Great book for the serious reader

This book presents a great review of the research on deception, debunking many myths, and without seeming dull or dry, although this clearly is a serious book for academics or professionals, which is nice, considering how most every other book on this subject is rather sensationalist and often based on very limited subjective experience.

Tommy Weber and Susan "Puss" Coriat were pure products of their times: Tommy was a racecar driver-turned-drug supplier (for no less than the Rolling Stones); Puss's experimentation with LSD and quest for a spiritual guru would lead to schizophrenia, involuntary hospitalization and electro-shock therapy. The couple's two young sons, caught between their coke-addled father (Tommy once taped a pound of cocaine to each of them to get through customs) and their mother's steady mental decline, prove remarkably resilient. Following the couple's divorce, Tommy and his sons lived with Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards (and his hangers-on) in the south of France, where Tommy got heavily into heroin; Puss's thwarted plan to meet them there in 1971 would presage her suicide by sleeping pills. A Day in the Life

Wonderfully written account of a family that gets caught in the crossfire of the 60's counterculture revolution, which included all the sex, drugs and rock n roll possible. Enjoyed learning about the personal histories that led up to this trainwreck of a family. Even more intriquing is that we know the offspring as actors in the public eye. A real page-turner.

The darker side of the Swinging Sixties

I got this book because I had read an interview with actor Jake Weber, where he talked about his turbulent upbringing during the 1960s. He was one of two sons of a young socialite named "Puss" Susan Coriat, and her husband, Tommy Weber.

I started reading the book, and I ended up finishing it in one sitting. Robert Greenfield really manages to tell a compelling and interesting story, yet still maintain a journalistic distance.

Both Puss Coriat, and Tommy Weber came from privileged, wealthy families. Yet both sets of parents divorced, and Puss and Tommy were shuttled around to various schools and relatives. Puss Coriat's mother Pricilla was well-known - she was known as the "little rich girl" and was one of the wealthiest women of her time, yet she was foolish and a spendthrift. Tommy's parents were likewise pretty dysfunctional.

Puss and Tommy meet and fall in love and marry right at the start of the craziness that marked the mid-to late 1960s. They were right in the center of it all, and they hung around with all the celebrity rockers of their time, in particular the Rolling Stones and Keith Richards. Throw in to this mix a lot of various drugs, (LSD, marijuana, heroin, among others) and you can kind of see where this is going.

I don't want to give anything away, but there is not a good ending for either parent, in particular, Puss. She develops a sort of drug induced schizophrenia, and had an apparent psychotic break along with depression. (Her reaction reminded me a lot of Sid Barret's from Pink Floyd, and in fact he is even mentioned in this regard.) Tommy's life continues with the focus on drugs, sex and rock 'n roll, which doesn't serve him well as he ages.

In short, this is a fascinating little book that really gives you a sense of what that decade and lifestyle were all about. It's one thing to choose that way of life if you are on your own, but it's a different case if like Puss and Tommy, you have two small boys. My heart went out to those boys, and it's a tribute to them both that they seem to have turned out so well.

Recommended, especially if you like reading about the wild times that were the 1960s, and what it was like to have been a part of the madness. My only criticism is that there are some substantial gaps in the narrative, but that's not the fault of the author as much as there were few (competent) witnesses around to say what happened. I'm not sure if I ever felt like I "knew" Puss, or for that matter even Tommy, but the book amply demonstrates how people with such promising futures could mess up their lives due to partying, drugs and alcohol, in a decade that seemed to revel in it all.

What an amazing story! A Fairy Tale but one that doesn't end with "they lived happily ever after". Greenfield reveals a part of the swinging 60's that ads to the saying "sex drugs and rock'n roll", heartbreak and despair. I was totally engrossed in this story and could not put it down. WHen is the movie coming out?

Patricia Werhane is Peter and Adele Ruffin Professor of Business Ethics at the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia and Senior Fellow at the Olsson Center for Applied Ethics. She is the editor of Business Ethics Quarterly, the leading journal in the field,

The best book on business ethics and its philosophical foundations

I am an undergraduate student at the Wharton School and took a class with the author of this book, Thomas Donaldson, which was one of the best classes I've ever taken. The cases in this book are drawn from Donaldson's personal experience as an ethical consultant to companies and from his interactions with other knowledgeable ethicists. Even by itself, this book is very useful to gain a foundation in business ethics and its philosophical foundations, as well as to learn about some interesting cases that serve as great conversation topics and practical examples in the real business world.

I love these recipes! They are simple and easy to follow (and they have pictures!). I also love the fact that they use REAL food, items that are readily available where I shop.I can easily see roatating these dishes, and not getting tired of them, until I reach my goal and beyond. Well worth the download price.

I have studied and tried several systems of diets. Dr. Berg's principles are easy to understand and he is giving many tips for applications to handle the difficulties such as cravings etc. This recipe book gives many useful tips on staying healthy and still making tasty foods.
